Bighnaharta Nepal carried out a disaster relief project to support communities affected by natural disasters in Thame and Bukhel. In Thame, a Glacier Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) caused major damage to homes, a school, a health post, and tourism infrastructure. In Bukhel, heavy floods destroyed the water supply system, leaving families without clean water.
Our mission was to provide immediate relief and help communities recover and rebuild stronger.
What We Did
In Thame, we provided essential support to 30 students at the Thame Learning Center. This included beds, mattresses, blankets, bedsheets, and pillows to improve their living conditions. Additionally, we supplied furniture such as desks, benches, tables, and chairs, along with plywood, to help repair and upgrade the classrooms and hostels.
In Bukhel, we focused on restoring the damaged water supply system. We delivered over 11,000 meters of pipelines (20mm, 25mm, and 32mm) to ensure clean water access for 57 families, helping to improve sanitation and prevent waterborne diseases.
Impact
Thame: Students now have a safer, more comfortable learning and living environment. This contributes to their well-being, health, and educational outcomes.
Bukhel: The restored water supply system ensures clean water is available to families, improving sanitation and helping prevent waterborne diseases.
